Midland College (MC) is reminding citizens that they still have time to register for the May election.

"Don’t miss your chance to vote! The deadline to register for the May election is Thursday, April 3 — make sure you’re ready," wrote MC in a Facebook post. A video featuring MC’s Student Government Association Vice President, Fortune Dominic, discussing the importance of voting with students and faculty accompanied the post.

According to Matthew Blair, an adjunct government professor at the school, an informed vote—knowing who and what one is voting for—is crucial to the continued existence of the country's democracy. Early voting will run from April 22 until April 29, with election day slated for May 3.

Voting holds significant importance for Midland College, which hopes voters will approve its proposed $450 million bond aimed at enhancing educational facilities and programs. According to the school's website, the bond is intended to improve career and technical education (CTE) programs to address local workforce requirements and upgrade campus facilities.

The largest project within the bond proposal is a $277 million Advanced Technology Complex dedicated to CTE programs. Other allocations include $43 million for expanding Health Science Facilities, $54 million for general renovations across the campus, $35 million for updating student housing facilities, $30 million for a new Student Services Center, and $10 million for security enhancements.
