The Midland YMCA has initiated Child Abuse Prevention Month, observed nationwide throughout April, emphasizing that the safety of children is its primary concern. This was said in a recent Facebook post by the organization.

According to the post dated April 1, one of the methods employed by the non-profit to protect children is through Raptor screening. The Raptor system is utilized by 60,000 schools across 55 countries for child safety purposes.

The process at Midland YMCA requires visitors aged 18 and older to present a government-issued photo ID or passport. These IDs are then scanned through the Raptor system. "No exceptions—our Y is a safe space for all," the post said. "Thank you for helping us build a safer, stronger community for every child and family!"

According to the Child Welfare Information Gateway, National Child Abuse Prevention Month acknowledges the significance of families and communities collaborating to prevent child abuse and neglect. On April 3, President Donald J. Trump issued a White House proclamation recognizing National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
