A group of student-athletes from Midland Independent School District (ISD) will advance their athletic careers to the collegiate level, as reported by an X post from Amanda Lopez, the district's director of athletics.
February 5 marked National Signing Day across the United States. Lopez extended her congratulations to the Rebels who have committed to playing sports in college. In softball, she highlighted Aliyah Valdez, who will attend the University of Dallas, and Taylor Martinez, who will join Mid-America Christian University. Mackenzie Buchanan is set to attend Paris Junior College on a soccer scholarship. Alexa Luna and Illiana Bowden are heading to Midland College as athletic trainers.
Rebels football players making commitments include wide receiver Aiden Serrano and defensive lineman Terry Ojopagogo, both of whom will play for the University of Texas Permian Basin. Offensive lineman Peyton Arthur has signed with Angelo State University. Legacy student-athletes Caiden Olivas and Cole Neatherlin are set to attend Midland College on baseball scholarships.
According to ESPN, three Midland High School Bulldogs—Cornell Hunt, Tahj Harris, and Julian Williams—have signed offers to play football with Eastern New Mexico University. Additionally, Jake Nava will play baseball for Midland College, while Hannah Johnson is committed to playing soccer at Newman University in Kansas.
