The Midland County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is actively seeking volunteers for its Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU), a division dedicated to providing immediate support and services to victims of crime.

According to a Facebook post by MCSO on January 8, the growth of Midland County has been accompanied by an increase in crime and victimization. The CIU aims to address these challenges by offering on-scene support, services for victims, and guidance on available resources.

MCSO said that its mission to protect and serve includes providing services with integrity and dedication to preserve life and protect property. "So please, come join and help us better serve you and our community," the post reads.

According to the sheriff’s office’s website, the CIU was established in 1990. It currently comprises a paid staff of two individuals supported by 35 highly trained volunteers who are available around the clock. Those interested in joining or seeking further information are encouraged to contact MCSO at (432) 688-4635.
