Three-year-olds at Ben Milam International Academy will have the opportunity to develop essential skills and readiness for future success through its inaugural Pre-K three bilingual program.

According to a news release, the program aims to provide a strong academic and social foundation for students transitioning into Pre-K four. This initiative is part of Midland Independent School District's (ISD) only dual-language two-way program, which integrates English learners and fluent English speakers in groups to facilitate mutual learning. The program seeks to develop fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Spanish.

"An important point to remember when teaching little ones is that they do not learn with just a pencil and worksheet," said Alma Ramon, a Pre-K three teacher. "They learn through engaging and playful activities. That is what I implement in my classroom every day."

The news release also states that the program relies on parental involvement in their child's educational journey. The Pre-K three bilingual program emphasizes structure and routine while engaging students with age-appropriate, interactive learning strategies that foster early literacy skills, promote a love for reading, and incorporate hands-on interactive activities.
