The football season has concluded, yet the Bulldogs football team continues to garner accolades for its community service efforts.
Midland Independent School District (ISD) announced on Facebook that the team secured second place in an award recognizing high school teams for their community involvement. "Congratulations to Coach Fortune and the Midland High School Football team who were recently named Runner-Up for the Grant Teaff Beyond the Game Team Award by the Texas Sports Hall of Fame," the district said. "Your commitment to serving the Midland community goes beyond the field!"
According to information from the Texas Sports Hall of Fame website, any high school team engaged in community service is eligible for this award. The organization seeks to acknowledge servant leadership and community service initiatives among high school sports teams.
A news release revealed that Freeman High School, based in Katy, ultimately won the 2025 Grant Teaff Beyond the Game Team Award. In addition to recognition, Freeman High School will receive a $5,000 grant and be honored during the Texas Sports Hall of Fame 2025 induction banquet.
