The Midland Fire Department (MFD) recently celebrated the addition of a new fire truck to its fleet.
According to a January 23 Facebook post, city leaders joined the fire department for a "push-in" ceremony for the state-of-the-art engine. "We can’t wait to see this truck in action, serving and protecting Midland," MFD said in the post.
Mayor Lori Blong was among the attendees at the ceremony. In her own Facebook post, she said that the tradition dates back to when fire engines were pulled by horses. "So thankful for the dedication and teamwork that defines our firefighters and the role they play in keeping our community safe," Blong said.
According to the city's website, MFD employs over 250 personnel, operates 11 stations, and provides fire protection and emergency medical services, along with other services to both citizens and visitors of Midland city and county.
