Fannin Elementary School students recently engaged in community service by volunteering at the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry.
According to a news release, fifth and sixth graders who are part of the Mighty Mustang Leadership program demonstrated their character and learned about community service. The program aims to foster leadership among students, requiring them to maintain good grades for participation.
"Our students’ dedication, compassion, and hard work have made a meaningful difference in our community," said April Madrid, counselor at Fannin Elementary School. "We are so proud of these students for embodying true leadership and kindness!"
The news release said that students helped serve food, distributed bread, and interacted with community members in need during their time at the soup kitchen. The Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry mentioned in a Facebook post that the school scheduled three days for volunteering to enable over 40 children to contribute. "The enthusiasm of each child to serve was so incredible," the organization wrote. "They took pride in giving a helping hand to those in need!"
