Midland County has announced the development of a hazard mitigation plan in collaboration with several stakeholders.
According to a news release, the county aims to mitigate hazards in the area by working with entities such as the City of Midland, Midland and Greenwood Independent School Districts (ISDs), Midland College, and Midland Memorial Hospital. Public feedback is being sought for this initiative. A public meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, at 1703 E County Road 120.
The county has enlisted Austin-based hazard mitigation specialists H2O Partners, Inc. to consult on the project. The meeting will serve as a forum for residents to learn about the program and provide information on potential hazards affecting them. Citizens will also have the opportunity to recommend possible actions to reduce their impact.
A survey has been posted by the county for residents to provide feedback. In this survey, flooding is cited as an example of a possible hazard that the plan would address.
