The Midland region is experiencing its coldest weather of the 2024-25 winter season, with temperatures dropping significantly below freezing at night. In response, the City of Midland has announced the opening of four "cold weather warming centers" to support residents during this period.

Among these centers is the MLK Jr. Community Center located at 2300 Butternut Lane. Other available warming centers in Midland include Breaking Bread Kitchen at 410 E. Florida Ave., Salvation Army of Midland at 600 E. Wall St., and Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry at 1401 Orchard Lane.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to reach lows in the 20s this week, with highs ranging from the lower 40s to lower 30s on Wednesday. There is also a forecasted chance of snow, with a 20% likelihood on Wednesday and a higher probability of 50% on Thursday.

The City of Midland will continue to provide updates regarding additional warming centers as more information becomes available.
