The city of Midland has implemented measures to maintain the delivery of high-quality water to its residents.
According to a December 13 Facebook post by the city, an adjustment has been made to the water treatment process. The city has increased the amount of chlorine used due to natural variations in manganese levels in the raw water source.
"Manganese doesn’t pose a risk to human health, and the adjustment is a routine measure to maintain the clarity and quality of your water," the post said. Residents have been advised not to be alarmed if they notice a stronger smell of chlorine during this period, as it is considered normal and expected.
The post further assured that chlorine levels remain within safe and acceptable limits set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), with ongoing monitoring of the system.
