Midland Independent School District (ISD) student-athletes are expected to see an increase in offers to play collegiate football now that the season has concluded.
This trend is evident for Bulldogs wide receiver Cornell Hunt, who announced on social media platform X that he had received his second offer to play football. The offer comes from Hastings College in Nebraska, which competes at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) level. "After a great conversation with @Coach_MDixon, I’m blessed to receive my 2nd offer from @HCBroncoFB #AGTG," Hunt said. He also tagged members of the Midland High School coaching staff in his announcement.
In October, the Midland Times reported that Hunt had previously received an offer to play football at Eastern New Mexico University. Hunt is a senior whose profile lists him at 5’9" and 180 pounds.
According to MaxPreps, Hunt recorded six catches for 122 yards and three touchdowns this season. Over his three-year tenure with the varsity team, he has participated in 21 games, rushed for 168 yards, and gained 146 yards receiving. The website dedicated to high school sports also notes that Hunt has played as an outside linebacker in addition to his slotback role.
