Local athletes dominate 2024 All-District 2-6A football team

The Midland Bulldogs and Midland Rebels have received significant recognition on the 2024 All-District 2-6A Football Team.

According to a post on X, Midland Legacy safety Cole Neatherlin announced that he was named defensive MVP and expressed that he felt "blessed." Midland High running back Elijah McCoy shared offensive MVP honors with Frenship wide receiver Leyton Stone. The Rebels' quarterback JP Reyes was recognized as the offensive newcomer of the year, while Rebels offensive lineman Peyton Arthur was named co-offensive lineman of the year. Terry Ojopagogo from Midland Legacy was honored as the defensive lineman of the year.

McCoy retweeted a post listing local athletes who made the team. Among those named first-team all-district were Reyes and Bulldogs’ Stroman Bridges at quarterback; McCoy and Rebels’ Mckenzie Rogers at running back; Bulldogs’ Cutter Lange at fullback; and Rebels’ wide receivers Aiden Serrano and Kayden Iglesias. On the offensive line, Bulldogs' Jett Garcia, Jovanni Allen, and Gio Meza were joined by Rebels' Arthur, Darren Wilson, and Dylan Roemisch.

On defense, Bulldogs' linemen Jeremiah Loudd and Darrion Mitchell were joined by Rebels' Brylon Zeno and Ojapogogo. Agustin Varela from Midland High and DJ Brock from Midland Legacy made the team as inside linebackers. The Bulldogs’ Smiley Williams and the Rebels’ Neatherlin were selected as safeties. Blade Brandon from Midland High and Nic Moore from Midland Legacy were named cornerbacks, while Rebels' Jason Maltos served as punter and kicker for the team.
