Last night, the City Council of Odessa accepted the resignation of City Manager John Beckmeyer. The news came unexpectedly to the city, and efforts are being made to ensure a smooth transition. "We want to ensure you we will keep the City's best interest in mind," stated officials from the City of Odessa.

In response to Beckmeyer's resignation, Agapito Bernal was appointed as Interim City Manager. However, an update clarified that Bernal has not accepted this appointment and will continue his role as Deputy City Manager. The city assures residents that operations will continue as usual.

The City of Odessa extended its best wishes to Mr. Beckmeyer and his family following his departure.

Mayor-Elect Cal Hendrick also addressed city employees in light of these changes: "As Mayor-Elect, I want all City employees to take a deep breath, relax and focus on their work. Our goal is for all employees to enjoy their jobs, work hard and not worry about anything else! If we do these things, Odessa will be the best City in Texas!"
