A Legacy High School student recently made his debut in New York City, performing at one of the city's most esteemed music venues.
"Congrats to LHS senior Ryan Dominguez who recently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City," Midland Independent School District (ISD) said on a Facebook post. "Ryan was selected among more than 10,000 student musicians who auditioned for the Honors Performance Series. He's been playing the violin for six years and currently performs with the LHS orchestra and Mariachi Revolucion. Ryan is #MadeinMISD!"
Participation in the Honors Performance Series is limited to talented young performers who have received a nomination from a music teacher or a professional musician, according to the Carnegie Hall selection process. The program encourages music professionals to nominate high-achieving performers to apply for this prestigious opportunity.
According to the Carnegie Hall selection process, students selected to perform at the venue work with renowned conductors as they prepare for performances attended by New York concertgoers, educators, and family members. Many students attend after being nominated; however, the process allows students to apply independently if they provide contact information for a teacher reference as part of their application.
