The Midland County Commissioners Court held a regular meeting on Nov. 19. Actions taken included budget adjustments, personnel appointments, and approval of new infrastructure projects.

A $6,500 check receipt from the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission (PBRPC) was acknowledged by the court. The funds are earmarked for future emergency operations and training facilities within the county.

In infrastructure, the court moved forward with renovation plans for the Law Enforcement Building (LEB) and approved plans to seek quotes for the project. The court also took action on a land development project by approving the Lucas Addition plat, a 317-lot residential development with lots ranging from 2 to 3 acres each.

The commissioners approved several change orders for ongoing construction projects, including the Occidental Parkway Extension and potholing services on CR 1130.

In personnel matters, the Commissioners Court addressed staffing decisions, one of the decisions marking the approval of Lindsey Smith as the new Human Resources Director for Midland County. Smith will serve at grade 33, step 5.

The court approved a range of routine measures, including monthly reports from various county offices, the renewal of bonds for elected officials, and agreements related to the purchase of property at 608 Main St. as part of the county's expansion efforts. The $2.3 million payment will occur Dec. 4.

The next regular meeting of the Commissioners Court will be held on Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. at the Midland County Courthouse.
