Greenwood Independent School District (ISD) will commence renovations at Brooks Middle School early next year, as said by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

According to TDLR, the district, under the leadership of Superintendent Ariel Elliott, will also initiate construction on a new elementary school and an intermediate school. The combined cost for these three projects is projected to be $130 million.

A filing from TDLR dated November 14 indicates that the projects are slated to begin on January 6, 2025, with completion expected by October 30, 2026. The local design firm Parkhill collaborated with the district on the architectural planning for these schools.

In November 2023, voters approved a $198.7 million bond proposal. This proposal includes constructing a new elementary school for kindergarten through second grade and a new intermediate school for third through fifth grades. These schools will be situated at the intersection of County Road 1100 and County Road 120. Additionally, the proposal involves converting the south wing of Brooks Middle School from an intermediate school into a middle school.
