Mayor Lori Blong has acknowledged the latest recipients of the city's Be the Energy (BTE) Award, which was given to a group of Midland Police Department officers and detectives. According to Blong, these individuals have gone above and beyond in their efforts to protect the community.

In a Facebook post dated November 14, Blong named Officer Leah Leible, Officer Jose Rivera-Lara, Field Training Officer Garrett Allcorn, Probationary Officer Christian Yorkman, Field Training Officer Erica Ancich, Probationary Officer Tucker Craig, Detective Sergeant Neil Truex, and Detective Dustin Juergens as the awardees. The accolade derives its name from the city's motto.

According to Blong's post, these law enforcement officials were nominated for their collaborative efforts in closing a multi-incident case after a concerned homeowner reported suspicious activity. "Through this investigation," Blong said, "two individuals were arrested on charges of criminal trespass and felony narcotics possession, with more charges pending." She added that the team also recovered a stolen vehicle and other stolen property valued at around $33,000, returning these items to their rightful owners.

The victims of these incidents reportedly expressed gratitude for the officers' and detectives' work. Blong said she is proud of the entire team: "Thank you for embodying the spirit of service and making Midland a safer place for all of us."
