Midland Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard took a moment to post on X, honoring veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
"Thank you to all the men and women who have served our Country! On this day - Veterans Day, a special thank you to our @Midland_ISD team members who have served," wrote Howard.
According to Midland College, the institution also reflected on the holiday during a Veterans Day celebration on campus and in a Facebook post. "This Veterans Day, we pause to honor the courageous men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. Their sacrifices, dedication, and bravery are the foundation of our freedom. Thank you for your service," the college wrote.
Last week, Midland College hosted U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Famer Dr. Jeff Struecker during its "A Legacy of Loyalty and Service" event on November 9. The celebration in honor of Veterans Day included a 5K walk/run, cake-cutting activities, and a job fair at the school’s Helen Greathouse Children's Center parking lot. The Club of YWLA Midland also held its Annual Veterans Day Breakfast at its gym ahead of the holiday.
The Midland Times had previously reported that city offices would be closed on Veterans Day as employees observe the holiday. The city’s Solid Waste Department will resume regular trash pickup for Monday on Tuesday, November 12. The usual Tuesday trash pickup is rescheduled to Wednesday, November 13. Trash collection for Thursday and Friday will follow their regular schedules.
