The City of Midland is in the process of constructing its third recycling center, which will be situated in the northern area of the city.
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the $2.6 million project is being developed under the working title "City of Midland North Citizens' Collection Station." The facility will be located approximately two-thirds of a mile north of the State Highway 349 North and Craddock Highway intersection in Martin County.
The scope of work for this project includes creating a 2,400 square-foot building that will function as an employee area and public check-in station at one of two convenience centers designated for waste deposit. City Manager Tommy Gonzalez is leading the project, according to TDLR.
Construction began in September and is projected to conclude by March 1, 2025. The local design firm Parkhill has been responsible for the architectural aspects, as said by TDLR.
Currently, the city provides two locations for recycling services. According to its website, these are Butt's Recycling Center at 26 W. Industrial Loop and Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road.
