The city of Midland has been engaged in the celebration of Municipal Courts Week.

According to a November 5 Facebook post attributed to the city, two days—November 6 and 7—were designated for special events.

On November 6, the Midland Public Library Centennial branch hosted a Toddler Time Story Book Hour. Concurrently, the Midland County Teen Court and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) presented the Teen Safety Driving Exhibit at the Midland Municipal Court. On November 7, activities continued with a family hour at the Midland Public Library Downtown branch, while the courthouse lobby featured a TxDOT and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Safety Exhibit.

The lobby also displays the city’s Vision Zero Plan through November 8. Vision Zero aims to identify and prioritize roadway safety projects with the goal of significantly reducing and eliminating serious injuries and fatal crashes on Midland's streets and county roads.

According to the city’s website, the municipal court is presided over by Honorable Sharon Hatten, with Honorable Tim Meek serving as Associate Judge. It functions as the city’s court of record.
