A program designed to cultivate future leaders within the Midland Independent School District (MISD) is currently underway. The district aims for this professional development initiative to lead participants toward more principal roles.
"Today was the first session of the Aspiring Principals Academy. We believe in growing and developing our leaders at MISD," the district announced in a Facebook post. "Our future principals will engage in leadership sessions in collaboration with the Holdsworth Center to help them confidently lead a campus."
According to a MISD news release, the district's initial cohort of leadership training with The Holdsworth Center is concluding. Principals and administrators from four campuses participated in this two-year program, which seeks to enhance leadership skills and improve school performance and student outcomes through 12 sessions. Participants learned from leaders across various sectors and visited participating campuses.

"This work has helped shape and accelerate our leadership development plan," said Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard. She emphasized that one of their strategic plan's pillars is to grow and develop staff, aligning directly with their focus on creating a strong leadership pipeline for current and future campus leaders.
The Holdsworth Center's objective is to strengthen campus leadership through a hands-on, problem-solving approach, as said in the news release. Permian Strategic Partnership and the Scharbauer Foundation have supported MISD’s involvement with the program, allowing participants to receive in-depth coaching, root cause analysis, and strategies for dynamic leadership. Additionally, workshops were held in Odessa instead of Austin.
