Midland Independent School District (ISD) and members of the public celebrated the grand opening of the renovated swine barn during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

According to a Midland ISD news release, the ceremony was held at the Midland ISD Agriculture Education Center on October 26. The event was supported by Midland ISD’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) department.

A post on Midland ISD's Facebook page indicated that the event took place during the Tall City Stock Show. The renovation of the old steer barn into a swine facility was approved in April with support from instructors from both high schools, a steering committee, and the CTE department. "The facility has made it so much easier to care for her animals and it means a lot that this project was completed for students," said Legacy High School student Aliya Loyd.

Officials from Legacy High School's Future Farmers of America (FFA) Program, district representatives, and special guests were present during the event, according to the news release. The renovated swine barn is expected to enhance agriculture education for students by providing hands-on learning opportunities. In addition to preparing students for careers in agriculture, the barn will now offer practical experience to enhance their agricultural studies.
