Bulldogs’ slotback receives offer to play football for Eastern New Mexico University

A Midland High School wide receiver has announced on the social media platform X that he has received an offer to play NCAA Division II football. The announcement included a mention of the Bulldogs' coaching staff.

"After a great conversation with coach McCraw, I am excited to say that I have received my first offer from Eastern New Mexico University!! @coachmccraw @Coach_Fortune @midlandhighfb @Brandon_Smith52 @ENMUFootball," wrote Cornell Hunt, a senior whose profile lists him at 5’9" and 180 pounds.

According to MaxPreps, Hunt has recorded two catches for 44 yards and two touchdowns this season. Over his three-year tenure with the varsity team, Hunt has participated in 18 games, rushed for 168 yards, and gained 68 yards receiving. The website dedicated to high school sports also notes that Hunt has played as an outside linebacker in addition to his slotback role.

Midland Times reports that several Bulldogs players have received offers to play collegiate football over the past two months. Hunt joins teammates such as quarterback Stroman Bridges, who has committed to Army; running back Elijah McCoy, who will attend the University of Texas El Paso; and offensive lineman Pulelei’ite M. Primus, who has announced receiving 13 offers from major universities.
