Barbara Rodriguez Rivera, aged 89, of Midland, TX, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Born on December 4, 1934, in Ft. McKavett, TX, to Genoveva Ramon Rodriguez and Jose San Miguel Rodriguez, she was the eldest of five siblings and known for her warmth, culinary skills, and creative talents.

After marrying Prisciliano “Preston” Rivera in 1950 and raising their three children, Barbara's life was dedicated to her family as a devoted wife and mother. Her exceptional cooking, particularly her renowned "mashed beans," and her handmade crafts, including crocheted afghans and dish towels, were cherished by all. Barbara's generosity knew no bounds, always ready to help others and share her talents.

Throughout her life, she worked various jobs, maintaining a strong work ethic. Barbara found joy in music, dancing, and her unwavering faith in Christian songs, earning her the title of a "Prayer Warrior" for her impactful prayers. Her lasting impact as a caring and dedicated individual will be remembered by her surviving family members, including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Barbara will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, with Rosary recited at Ellis Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Shrine on Monday, September 30, followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Adrian Rivera, Ben Rivera Jr., Luis Rivera, Joseph Rivera, Nick Rivera, and Ronald Farris. The family expressed their gratitude to Hospice of Midland for their compassionate care during this time.
