Born on May 18, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, Betty was a passionate advocate for social justice and service. She played a pivotal role in establishing crucial programs at the Midland Rape Crisis Center, contributing significantly to the welfare and support of sexual assault victims and their families. Betty's tireless efforts also formed essential partnerships among various entities to better assist victims and enhance community support networks.
Betty's faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and interactions. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Midland, Betty exemplified compassion, kindness, and dedication. Beyond her service within the Midland community, Betty was an accomplished tournament bridge player, a devoted volunteer for animal welfare, and a passionate sports fan.
Betty is survived by her children, Kyle Dickerson and Kathy Bolin Pfannenstiel, as well as her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James T. Dickerson, and sister, Carol Anne Blandford Patterson.
In remembrance of Betty's legacy of compassion and community service, contributions may be made to the Midland Rape Crisis Center or Lone Star Animal Sanctuary. A graveside committal will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Resthaven Memorial Park, followed by a reception at Ellis Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Billett will officiate the service. Betty's indomitable spirit and selfless dedication will forever be cherished by those she touched.
