Jay Whitlow, host of The Catwalk Show podcast, said he moved to Midland Odessa in 2007 to learn the family oil and gas business, which eventually helped him acquire skills to launch a nonprofit. Whitlow was a guest on a recent episode of the Best of Midland Podcast.

“We moved from the Dallas Fort Worth area in 2007,” said Whitlow on a recent edition of the Best of Midland Podcast. “Three kids, they’re young, they want to go to college, and they want to do things in life. I needed to make some money. The offer was to come to Midland Odessa and learn the family business.”

“I resisted for two years and then, in 2007, decided to move with my family,” Whitlow said. “I started my own round bar and learned about the oil and gas industry from the family business building frack pumps. Dave Ramsey advises against working for your family, which is accurate. None of the family lives here anymore, but it did help me launch a nonprofit where I acquired skills in the industry."

Whitlow, is the host of The Catwalk Show, a podcast focused on discussions with industry professionals, community leaders, and social entrepreneurs in Midland, and aims to provide informative and engaging content.
