The United Way of Midland’s "Week of Caring" Food Drive will be supported by Midland College (MC) this year.

According to an MC news release, the drive plays an important role in assisting small local food pantries with donation requests. The food drive, which helps area food pantries, is distributing nutritious snacks during the "Week of Caring" Food Drive that ends on Sept. 20.

Those interested in helping can place their items in donation bins located near the Scharbauer Student Center, the Cowden Dining Hall, and at MC in the human resource office, according to the news release. Among the most requested items are peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned soup, canned fruit, canned meat, cooking oils, beans, pasta, oats, and juice.

Participation in the food drive is a critical component to helping the region’s food drive receive food. Aside from aiding the Midland College Food Pantry, other organizations that benefit include Bethel Missionary Baptist Church; Casa de Amigos; Faith Temple Church; First Christian Church; Jubilee Center of Midland; Martin County Food Pantry; and One Hope Church of Christ.
