The Midland Independent School District (MISD) is inviting parents, grandparents, and community members to assist with the launch of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at PreK Academy at Midland College (MC). The group’s first-ever meeting will be held on September 12 at 6 p.m. at the campus, located at 3600 N. Garfield St.

According to an August 23 Facebook post attributed to the Permian Basin public school district, the meeting will involve acquiring information and engagement among fellow potential members. Classes at MISD and MC have already commenced.

According to the National PTA website, a PTA can benefit a school in various ways, including increased parental involvement, enhanced communication, fundraising and resource allocation, and volunteer support.

PreK Academy at MC was started in the fall of 2019 with about 70 three- and four-year-old students. It is housed in a $30 million, 60,000 square-foot building on the college’s main campus that was opened last year.
