At the Midland City Council meeting on June 25, the council unanimously approved agenda item No. 21, a resolution authorizing the temporary use of land for a farmers market known as Anderson Farm Market.

The designated site is a 4.87-acre tract located on the north side of West Wadley Avenue, approximately 800 feet east of North A Street, specifically at One Petroleum Center.

The applicants, owners Chad and Jessica Anderson, requested a Temporary Land Use Permit to operate the farmers market, which will feature seven 8-foot tables, four tents, and a truck/trailer setup. The market will utilize eight parking spaces at One Petroleum Center and is planned to run year-round. Two bathrooms and hand sinks, one for men and one for women, will be accessible for the convenience of attendees.

According to Midland Planning and Development Officer Elizabeth Triggs, who spoke at the meeting, the initiative is in alignment with goal #2 of Chapter 7 of the Tall City Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, which aims to “create a cultural core in Midland that is a living, working, and entertainment destination.” The meeting agenda says that providing an event where residents can purchase high-quality food directly from farmers supports the city's vision of “fostering a vibrant community hub.”

The Anderson Farm Market offers products including produce, jellies, honey, floral items, and more. The market accepts both cash and card transactions.

Operating hours for the farmers market will be Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
