Midland considers issuing $54.5 million in bonds for its sanitation system, golf course.

The Midland City Council is considering the adoption of a capital funding plan to raise $31 million for the city's sanitation system and an additional $23.5 million for its golf course.

According to the agenda for the Midland City Council meeting on May 14, the sanitation system requires $40 million in improvements. These include $8 million for its north and west collection stations, $3.5 million to reconstruct its landfill entrance road, an additional $5.5 million for a landfill gas flare system, $12 million in cell construction costs, $2 million in Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) tower relocation, $1 million for oil well relocation and another $8 million in other capital costs. The council plans to issue bonds amounting to $31 million of this total.

In terms of the golf course's capital needs, they include $1.75 million in bathroom and clubhouse renovations and a master plan projected to cost $250,000. Other expenses listed on the council's agenda are: $6 million for irrigation systems, $3 million for Reverse Osmosis (Ro) system, $5 million for Roadrunner and Quail Greens development, a clubhouse rebuild and expansion costing approximately $6.5 million, and a tournament pavilion rebuild estimated at around 1$ million.

The resolutions before the council permit up to $40 million in bond issues for its sanitation system according to the same agenda.
