Eric Davidson emerges as presumed winner in special election

Eric Davidson has emerged as the leading candidate as of 8:17 p.m.,May 4. Out of 4,210 ballots cast, Davidson captured 1,791 votes, representing 42.62% of the total vote share.

John Burkholder garnered 1,555 votes, representing 37.01% of the votes cast and Ben Roberts secured 499 votes, equating to 11.88% of the total votes cast. James R. “Bull” Henry captured 292 votes, constituting 6.95% of the total vote share, while Cheston Blank received 65 votes, making up 1.55% of the total.

According to the Midland County website, 96,164 individuals were registered voters. However, only 4,210 ballots were casted. 

Davidson will presume the city council at-large seat and will serve the remainder of the at-large term, which ends in January 2025. Should Davidson seek to serve as an at-large council representative for another term, he would be required to run for office again in November.
