A Midland-based homebuilding company has announced plans to construct three single-family homes on South Lee Street, following the successful rezoning of three adjacent lots from multi-family to single-family home zoning.

Armando Sanchez, representing Sanchez Diamond Homes Construction Inc., submitted an application to the city for the zoning modifications of lots at 800, 802 and 804 S. Lee Street, as stated in the May 6 agenda for the Midland Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. The three lots are currently vacant.

According to the same agenda, the Planning and Zoning Commission will review the proposed change from MF-22, a multiple-family dwelling district, to SF-3, a single-family dwelling district. Each lot is subject to an individual rezoning application request.

The staff report indicates that these undeveloped lots are bordered by plots already hosting single-family homes. Furthermore, they meet the requirements for SF-3 zoning. The city's Tall City Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan designates this area as U-M, Urban Medium - a classification that supports any single-family zoning district.
