Dunaway, a Fort Worth-based design firm that has contributed to projects within the Permian Basin, announced the acquisition of CRIADO & Associates, a Dallas-based public infrastructure firm. The announcement was made in a May 1 press release.

According to its website, Dunaway recognizes the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex as the “most populous” metropolitan statistical area in Texas. Dunaway disclosed the opening of its Houston office in 2023, following its expansion to Dallas and Farmersville in 2021 and in addition to its existing locations in Austin, San Antonio, and Midland.

The firm has contributed to projects in the Permian Basin, such as the Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center, Summit Center, Permian Basin Regional Multi-Use Trail, and Midland Polo Club, according to its website. On Feb. 13, the Midland ISD Board of Trustees announced the selection of Dunaway and Associates as the surveying firm for the forthcoming Legacy High and Midland High campuses.

"The addition of CRIADO to the Dunaway team marks an exciting chapter in our growth story and is a testament to our commitment to our vision,” said Dunaway Senior Vice President and Principal Kervin Campbell in the release. “Together, we are poised to tackle even more ambitious projects, offering collaborative multi-disciplined solutions and unparalleled service to our clients and communities."

According to the release, Campbell began his career at Dunaway in 2003 and is “well-known” in the industry for his contributions to public safety and welfare through public works projects, including roadways, water, sanitary sewer, and storm drain improvements. Under his leadership, Dunaway has expanded its municipal client base and capabilities in civil engineering.

Leading the transition alongside Campbell is CRIADO President and CEO Cristina Criado. Before establishing CRIADO in 2001, Criado practiced as a professional civil engineer for two civil engineering firms in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. She has provided design and consulting services on different engineering projects, including roadway and freeway projects, interchanges, hike and bike trails, municipal projects, and land development, according to the release.

"CRIADO is excited to join forces with Dunaway because they are a company that we always admired and aspired to be like one day – they successfully lead a dynamic, profitable, and sustainable company through their one-heart company culture and strong core values," Criado said in the release. "I have always admired and respected what Dunaway has built over the years under such an inspiring, thoughtful, and humble leadership team. I am excited to be part of the difference that Dunaway makes!"
