The YMCA commenced construction for their Northwest Expansion project. The new facility will be located at the intersection of Avalon and Mockingbird in northwest Midland. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 15.
The new YMCA, situated on a 25-acre site acquired in the growing northwest region of Midland, will feature a 12,500-square-foot facility. The facility will serve the needs of Midland families seeking affordable after school programs for children 5-12 years of age, as well as health/wellness programs for all ages.
During the initial phase, the YMCA will offer a range of services, including afterschool programming, group exercise classes, health and wellness programming, active older adult programming, indoor pickleball, recreation for all ages, social and special events, and additional services as needed.
"We're eager to bring our new YMCA to life and serve you and your family," Midland YMCA wrote in a Facebook post.
