The 10th annual Hot Dog Run, organized by the Midland Humane Coalition (MHC), will be hosted on May 4 at Midland College’s Allison Fine Arts Building. Sponsored by local businesses and organizations, the event invites participants and their pets to support MHC’s mission of supporting animal welfare.
According to the MHC’s website, the Hot Dog Run began in 2015 and the event has now averaged 350-400 participants. The event serves as an important fundraiser for Midland Humane Coalition by helping the organization rescue homeless cats and dogs.
The Hot Dog Run comprises two run competitions: a 5K and a 1-mile run.
At 7:30 a.m., registration for the event will open. The 5K run is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the start of the 1-mile run at 8:35 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9 a.m., and the pet costume competition will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Registration fees are $35 for the 5K and $25 for the 1-mile, with all proceeds benefiting homeless pets in our community.
According to their website, organizers ask attendees that all dogs must be leashed and vaccinated. Owners are also responsible for cleaning up after their pets and keeping them under control.
Participants can register for the event and find more information on the official Hot Dog Run website at https://www.midlandhumane.org/hotdogrun.html.
Midland Humane Coalition is a nonprofit organization that partners with the community to end euthanasia of animals and to find homes for cats and dogs, according to their website.
