Faculty and students from Midland Independent School District (ISD) recently participated in a clean-up initiative aimed at maintaining the cleanliness of the Permian Basin.

"In an effort to give back to our community, Midland ISD teamed up with ProPetro Services to participate in their "Don't Mess With the Permian" trash pickup initiative! Thank you ProPetro for providing gloves and vests to keep our students and staff safe during the cleanup," said ISD, Midland ISD, according to X.

ProPetro, an oilfield services leader in the Permian Basin, launched this spring clean-up campaign with the goal of removing as much litter as possible from the community. The scope of the initiative extends to even minute pieces of trash such as food wrappers, receipts, cigarette butts, and garbage discarded from moving vehicles, according to information on ProPetro's website.

"ProPetro is proud to host the Don’t Mess With The Permian, a community clean-up program that creates the opportunity for volunteers to have remarkable results," states the company on its signup sheet. "We are prompting individuals to take greater responsibility for their local environment by joining this community service project that engages volunteers, local businesses and civic leaders. DMWTP was organized to improve our environment by creating cleaner parks, streets and public spaces through litter removal and elimination."

The company's website further indicates that anyone within the community was eligible to volunteer for this cause. ProPetro envisions that these efforts will yield "remarkable results". In its long-term vision, ProPetro aims to foster a sense of responsibility among individuals towards their local environment. By encouraging participation in such community service initiatives, it hopes to sustain a litter-free community in the foreseeable future.
