Basin's Got Talent 1st place winners - Carrasco & Revilla on stage | Spectrum of Solutions Facebook

Midland-based Spectrum of Solutions announced the winners of its Basin’s Got Talent competition on April 6. The winners were announced on the organization’s website.

Adrian Revilla, Leon Carrasco, and Victor Ochoa won First Place with a cash prize of $5,000 and Ian Lopez won Second Place with a cash prize of $3,000.

Carrasco and Lopez are both students at the Hispanic Culture Center of Midland, along with Revilla who is a guitar teacher, while Victor Ochoa is a friend and former baseball coach of Revilla’s.

For Carrasco and Revilla, the awards add to a string of victories in similar competitions. In January they represented the Greater West Texas Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. In that competition, they were finalists as a duo, and in solo categories. The duo also won in Odessa's Got Talent in 2023.

"I started playing guitar slightly later in life and actually learned while I was teaching Leon Carrasco at HCCM when he was 10,” Revilla told Midland Times.

“My plans are to finish High School,” said Carrasco. “I’m a Senior at Legacy and a catcher for the baseball team. I’m going to continue to grow my music skills and continue to join competitions. I currently have a band called Never 2 Young.”

According to their website, Spectrum of Solutions, formerly known as MARC, has been in Midland for over 60 years.  The organization helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. See: https://www.spectrumofsolutions.org/ for more information.
