The Dallas Cowboys' most prolific tackler in the club's history was recently in Midland to contribute to renovations at the Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center’s equine facilities, as reported by a Midland ISD post.

"Cowboys legend Darren Woodson joined students from YWLA today to celebrate upgrades to the MCRC's equine facility. YWLA's Abell Hanger Students in Philanthropy class was instrumental to the improvements, earning a $10,000 donation from Chevron to fund the improvements. MISDProud," said ISD, according to X.

Woodson shared his involvement on Instagram, stating, "Empowering the next generation through service. I teamed up with @dallascowboys @chevron and Abell-Hanger Foundation to celebrate the completion of the Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center’s equine facilities upgrade project. Students from the Young Women’s Leadership Academy (YWLA) Students in Philanthropy (SIP) team developed the project through the Dallas Cowboys Community Captain competition."

As per the Dallas Cowboys website, Woodson had a 12-year stint as a safety with the team after playing as a linebacker at Arizona State, contributing significantly to their three Super Bowl victories during his tenure. His achievements include being named All-Pro four times and being selected for five Pro Bowls along with being an esteemed member of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor.

AOL reports that the rehabilitation of Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center was a collaborative effort between YWLA, SIP and the facility itself. The team participated in the Dallas Cowboys Community Captain competition last fall, which fosters collaboration between West Texas students and nonprofits on service projects aimed at benefiting their communities. The Community Captain initiative is a joint venture among the Dallas Cowboys, Chevron and Abell-Hanger Foundation (AHF). This initiative led to YWLA receiving a $10,000 donation from Chevron towards MCRC for implementing their project, along with earning them the title of Dallas Cowboys Community Captain.
