Children’s author: ‘I just compiled a list of the illustrators that I like their style and then I did a few interviews’

Rosie Talley, West Texas resident and children’s book author, said that finding her illustrator involved browsing through Indiegogo.com and compiling a list of preferred artists based on their styles, followed by conducting interviews to select the best fit. Talley was a guest on a recent episode of the Best of Midland Podcast.

“I found my illustrator by going on to Indiegogo.com,” said Talley on a recent edition of the Best of Midland Podcast. “When authors fund their projects, sometimes they will list their illustrators. So, I just compiled a list of the illustrators that I like their style, and then I did a few interviews.”

“Anna is actually at a studio called Devio Studio,” Talley said. “So, my contact there, his name is Cyprien, and when we were doing the interview, he told me some information that was very helpful to me. He was the only illustrator that gave me that information, like just about how many pages your book should have and things like that, like the structure of the book. And so, that's why I chose him, basically. But Anna really captured the image of what I envisioned Linus to be.”

Linus the Troll is a children’s picture book about a troll named Linus who looks frightening on the outside, but is actually friendly and loving. Talley has also published a second Linus book, The Island of Huggles, and a guide called How to Self-Publish a Children's Book.
