The Midland Legacy boys’ swimming and diving team placed third at the UIL Region 1-6A Championship last weekend, with the 200 meter freestyle relay team winning bronze with a time of 1:25.69.
The Midland Bulldogs placed 11th in the meet with a score of 12 points, led by Jake Shelton who set two school records.

The 200 meter freestyle team consisted of Brendan Morgan, David Sites, George Workman and David Fuentes. Fuentes had a 21.07 in the his 50 meter section to lead the team. The team qualified for the state meet.
Fuentes was the top swimmer in the meet, and his best race of the day was a fifth place time of 21.35 in the 50 meter freestyle race. Fuentes placed sixth in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 58.89, as well. Fuentes qualified for the state meet in the 50 meter freestyle.
Gavin Rochelle was eighth in the 200 meter individual medley with a time of 1:56.62.
Cooper Workman was ninth in the 200 meter freestyle race with a time of 1:44.72.
Midland Bulldogs
Jake Shelton was the top swimmer for Midland, taking fourth in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 46.35. He was fifth in the 200 meter freestyle race with a time of 1:40.59, as well. These are both school records, and Shelton was chosen for the state swim meet for both events.
