The Midland Legacy girls’ track team started off the season strong with a win at the Rogers Ford Tall City Relays at Memorial Stadium on Feb. 9, led by Abigail Hinojosa who set a school record in the 1600 meters. The boys’ team placed fifth in the meet.

Midland Legacy girls’ top performers:
Freshman Abigail Hinojosa took first in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:22.21 to help lead the Rebels in taking the top spot at the meet. She also won the 3200 meters with a time of 11:50.99.
Aaralyn Strambler finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 12.61.
In the pole vault, Midland Legacy’s Victoria Salazar Took first with a height of 10 inches, which was a full foot above Elizabeth Garcia of Midland Legacy, who finished second place at 9 feet. The Rebels owned the top three spots, with Corinne Berry taking third with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches.
The Rebels had the top three spots in the shot put, as well. Bolaji Subair was first with a distance of 41 feet, 10.58 inches; Pamela Outarra was second at 39 feet, 3.5 inches; and Madison Gonzales was third at 37 feet, 1.5 inches.
Outarra was first place in the discus with a distance of 112 feet, 8 inches, and Gonzales was third with a distance of 108 feet, 2 inches.
200 meters: Strambler was third with a time of 27.09. Ilyana Smith was sixth with a time of 27.64.
400 meters: Jada Mathis was sixth with a time of 1:05.02.
3200 meters: Kyndall Jones placed third with a time of 12:35.98 and Mia Regalado was fourth with a time of 12:41.67.
110 meter hurdles: Dasmien Johnson was fifth with a time of 17.53.
300 meter hurdles: Johnson had a time of 51.61 for sixth place.
4x100 meter relay: Midland Legacy took second with a time of 49.73. The team included Aliyah Valdez, Skye Lopez, Jenna Gray, and Iyana Smith.
4x200 meter relay: Midland Legacy was second with a time of 1:47.94. The team included Smith, Gray, Lopez and Valdez.
4x400 meter relay: The Rebels were second with a time of 4:14.69. The team included Lopez, Mathis, Hinojosa and Victoria Salazar.
High Jump: Kate Stansell was fourth with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches.
Long Jump: Strambler was second with a leap of 17 feet, 8 inches.
Triple Jump: Johnson was fourth with a distance of 33 feet, 2.5 inches. Smith was fifth with a distance of 33 feet, 1.25 inches.
Midland Legacy top boys’ performers:
Senior Logan Meade took the top spot in the 400 meters with a time of 50.59 to lead the Rebels.
Also taking first was Alexis Chavez in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 5 inches.
In the shot put, Cade Decker won by a huge margin with a toss of 52 feet, 9.5 inches. The throw was more than nine feet ahead of the second place toss of 43 feet, 1.5 inches.
100 meters: Luke Frysak was 16th with a time of 11.98.
200 meters: Ayden Granado was fourth with a time of 23.27.
800 meters: David Ruvalcaba was sixth with a time of 2:06.74
1600 meters: Ruvalcaba was fourth with a time of 4:50.17.
3200 meters: John Abalos was fourth with a time of 10:30.10.
110 meter hurdles: Masseye Diop was sixth with a time of 16.61.
300 meter hurdles: Diop was third with a time of 42.51.
4x100 meter relay: The Rebels were sixth with a time of 44.58. The team consisted of Skylar Wilburn, Alexis Chavez, Gilbert Hernandez and Ayden Granado.
4x200 meter relay: The Rebels took fourth place with a time of 1:33.43. The team included Wilburn, Chavez, Hernandez and Granado.
Discus: Cade Decker was second with a throw of 143 feet, 5 inches.
