Midland City Council approves purchase of new vehicles

The city approved spending over $2 million on dozens of vehicles for the Midland Police Department at a recent council meeting. 

The purchases will include 30 Chevrolet Tahoes and two Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks. City Council member Jack Ladd moved to approve the agenda item. These vehicles are expected to be a significant upgrade for the existing fleet of the local police department.

Delving into details about the procurement,the vehicles will be purchased through Buyboard contract 601-19 from Caldwell Country Chevrolet, LLC, according to a letter from Purchasing Manager Erika Martinez. The letter also states that the vehicles will replace those currently in use by the MPD.

Moving on to financial aspects,a quote summary from Cap Fleet states that each Chevrolet Silverado truck will cost $8,657.00 for a total of $17,314.00, and each Chevrolet Tahoe will cost $27,970.00 for a total of $839,100.00. Other fees include service and delivery charges for a grand total of $2,641,694.00.
