Teen FLOW Youth Ministry, marking its 25th year, is recognizing the contributions of Zachary Ramirez, who joined the organization as Facilities Manager in May 2023. Ramirez is responsible for maintaining the youth center's 17,000 square feet, ensuring the upkeep of facilities and vehicles essential to the ministry's operations, according to Janiah Clark, Executive Director of Teen FLOW.
Ramirez oversees custodial tasks, including sanitizing, restocking, and repairs throughout the building. His work extends to maintaining five 15-passenger vans that transport students to and from the program. The vehicles are critical because Teen FLOW relies entirely on transportation services for student participation.
Ramirez has also contributed to Teen FLOW's summer camps, assisting with logistics and transportation. His involvement extends to mentoring and leadership roles during camp activities, “fostering connections with students and promoting a positive environment,” according to Clark.
Ramirez says the flexibility of his role is what allowed him to transition back to work after overcoming brain cancer, while also continuing his education.
“Knowing my work contributes to a safe and welcoming environment for the students keeps me motivated,” he said.
Ramirez plans to complete his Bachelor’s degree and pursue a career as a Texas game warden while continuing to support Teen FLOW by ensuring the facility's readiness for its programs.
