Juice, the mascot of the Midland RockHounds, attended the grand opening of a new outdoor exercise station at Dennis the Menace Park on March 5. This was highlighted in a Facebook post by the team.
According to a March 12 post by the RockHounds, Juice was present to witness a friendly relay competition between the Midland Police Department and the Midland Fire Department using the newly installed fitness equipment. The Double-A Minor League Baseball affiliate shared images of this event.
The Midland Times reported that the fitness court was made possible through contributions from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and the National Fitness Campaign. Midland is one of 35 cities in Texas participating in this initiative. The court offers scalable workouts suitable for both beginners and advanced athletes. "A special thank you to Juice, for your unwavering support and BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, for your collaboration in making this project a reality," wrote the RockHounds.
Mayor Lori Blong mentioned in a Facebook post last month that city park facilities currently serve over 22,500 participants engaged in organized sports such as baseball, BMX, soccer, softball, youth football, and adult cricket.
The upcoming 2025 season will mark the RockHounds’ 53rd year. According to reports, Midland set an all-time franchise record with 84 games and won the Texas League’s South Division in 2024. The RockHounds are scheduled to open their season against the Arkansas Travelers from April 4 to 6.
