The Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) announced that it’s the first public school district in the state of Texas to have a Registered Apprenticeship Program for K-12 Principals, according to a Nov. 8 press release.
"ECISD said that the apprenticeship program was approved and validated by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and will provide mentoring, on-the-job training, principal licensure, and professional learning", said ECISD. The release noted that validated Registered Apprenticeship Program gives ECISD access to funding, with no charges levied against anyone in the program. "Muri said in the release that the teacher bears the most influence on student learning followed by the principal", mentioned Muri.
Additionally, "the release added that ECISD already has a Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers consisting of a partnership with Odessa College (OC) and the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB)", according to ECISD's announcement.
