Jorge Delgado, a paramedic with the Odessa Fire Rescue (OFR) team, has been recognized as an "Outstanding Hispanic Medical Professional" for his exceptional service.

Delgado, who has been with OFR for over nine years, was commended by his colleagues for his commitment and expertise in the field of healthcare and emergency services.

In the past, he has received awards such as Paramedic of the Year and Educator of the Year.

Delgado's contributions extend beyond his work with OFR. According to a Facebook post by the City of Odessa, Delgado serves as a paramedic instructor at Odessa College to shape the next generation of first responders.

The Odessa Fire Rescue official website outlines the main duties of the organization, which include Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire Marshal's Division and Inspection, and Fire Suppression. The website emphasizes OFR's commitment to providing the city with the best in fire prevention, suppression, training, and emergency response.

OFR operates eight Mobile Intensive Care Unit ambulances and eight paramedic-staffed fire engines, covering an area of approximately 904 square miles and serving a population of 200,000.

The organization is currently accepting applications for the EMS Lifeline service for 2024, further demonstrating their commitment to serving the community.
