The organization commits to ending abuse and trauma, helping families and providing bright futures for local youth. The proclamation of the day was recognized by the city of Midland and presented by Mayor Lori Blong.
According to a Facebook post by the City of Midland Public Information, High Sky Children’s Ranch has been a positive force in the community. The post says, “Their unwavering dedication to breaking the cycle of abuse and trauma drives transformative programs that nurture well-being and unlock boundless potential.” The post also expressed thanksgiving for the organization, stating, “We are grateful for their steadfast commitment to positively impacting our community. Here's to many more years of making a difference.”
According to the High Sky Children’s Ranch website, the ranch aims to break the cycle of trauma that can happen within families. It says, “Intergenerational trauma can persist in families for decades, passing from parent to child. High Sky Children’s Ranch is dedicated to healing abused children and promoting family wholeness.” The organization offers a multitude of programs including “Partnering with Parents”, “Teen Home”, “Therapeutic Services”, “Foster Care and Adoption”, and “Preparation for Adult Living”. The website also states: “High Sky envisions communities in which children live in safe and healthy families.”
According to the High Sky Children’s Ranch website, the organization purchased 100 acres of land in West Midland in 1961 and has been expanding its facilities and services ever since then. In the last 5 years, they have expanded by remodeling and rebuilding one entire campus, increased the therapy program, finished construction for a new therapy center, a new emergency shelter, and an administration building, and started an on-campus Teen Home program.
