Midland-based Diamondback Energy has made a generous donation of $41,000 to the Midland Fire Department (MFD) to purchase additional lifesaving equipment. The donation was made on September 27th and will allow MFD to acquire 15 gas G7C monitors and a three-year subscription for a real-time monitoring system.

The state-of-the-art monitors will greatly enhance MFD's response to gas leak incidents by providing real-time data as firefighters approach the source. In a Facebook post, the department expressed their gratitude to Diamondback Energy for their incredible support.

MFD Hazmat Coordinator Andy Chandler explained that the donation covers what the agency's budget couldn't accommodate. He added that Diamondback Energy's capabilities in air monitoring for different types of calls have increased, allowing first responders to have a better understanding of the situation. Mayor Lori Blong of Midland also expressed her appreciation for Diamondback's partnership with the city and their generosity towards first responders. She emphasized the importance of the monitors in ensuring the safety of both firefighters and the community.

According to MFD officials, the new monitors will be put to immediate use. This donation will undoubtedly strengthen the capabilities of the Midland Fire Department and contribute to their mission of protecting and serving the community.
