Local Midland resident, Chris Breedwell moved to Midland with plans to temporarily work remotely and live near his family. Since then, he has launched a medical shop to fulfill the medical supply needs of Midland.
“This is a type (of) store that you never really think about until you need it. And when you need it, you needed it yesterday.” Chris Breedwell, owner of the Midland Medical Supply said.
The first of its kind in town in the last ten years, the medical shop offers wheelchairs, shower chairs, scooters, and various other types of medical equipment.
Soon after moving to Midland, Breedwell was employed remotely with a company based in California. The idea for the shop derived from his grandmother’s request for a walker at a Midland Rockhounds game.
Upon discovering a lack of pharmacy or medical stores nearby, he created a number and posted an ad offering services under the name, Midland Medical Supply. His medical equipment business has been booming ever since.
“I have not gone a day without a phone call or a sale in my store. Every single day since I have been open since October 1, I have had one, two, three, or every customer thank me for being here.” Breedwell said.
His shop serves as a closer location for people residing in Midland, Big Spring, and Stanton. He offers delivery to these areas, as well as Abilene, Marfa, and Lubbock,
“Breedwell says he was only going to be in Midland temporarily, but one of his customers, who also happens to be his grandfather told him to use his medical supply expertise and start a shop in Midland,” a CBS report states.
“The last outlet was over by the hospital, and they moved, left and no one has ever filled those shoes,” Jim Dixon, a customer at Midland Medical Supply, said. “If anyone needed medical supplies or equipment, they had to go to Odessa or Lubbock to get it.”
Breedwell began gathering knowledge about medical equipment when he was five years old at his family’s pharmacy. He has also worked for organizations related to DME in New York, California, and Tennessee.
The shop owner plans to stay in Midland to continue serving the local community.
